Lazada seller fees in Malaysia 2026: what you keep
What Lazada takes from a Malaysian seller after the 14 August 2026 commission change, why the payment fee figures disagree, and what is left of a RM100 sale.

Lazada seller fees in Malaysia come out of each delivered order: a commission set by product category, then a payment fee reported at 3.5%, with 8% SST on both. On a RM100 General Merchandise item, a Marketplace seller keeps about RM72.46 to RM76.24 after the 14 August 2026 rates, or RM96.22 during the first 120 days.

Key takeaways
- Commission rose on 14 August 2026. The top of every Marketplace cluster went up 3 percentage points, to between 20% and 25.5% before SST (Lazada).
- The rate is all-in. Lazada's table says it includes campaign vouchers, Basic LazCoins and free shipping.
- The payment fee is disputed. Sources say 3.5% before SST or RM2.16 per RM100. We use 3.78%.
- PayLater costs more. Since 1 January 2026 a PayLater order pays 4.86% including SST (BigSeller).
- New Marketplace sellers get 120 days without commission. The payment fee still applies (Zetpy).

What does Lazada charge a seller in Malaysia?
Lazada charges a Malaysian seller per delivered order, in two main lines: a commission set by product category and a payment fee on the order value. Both carry 8% SST. BigSeller's February 2026 summary reports that "no platform support fee is charged", which is a real difference from Shopee's RM0.54 per order. Advertising and your own vouchers come on top.
| Fee | Charged on | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Commission | Item price after your own discounts (Zetpy) | By category, plus 8% SST |
| Payment fee | Item price after your own vouchers, plus shipping the buyer paid (SiteGiant) | Reported at 3.5%, plus 8% SST |
| PayLater fee, on PayLater orders | Final amount paid, excluding Lazada vouchers (BigSeller) | 4.5%, plus 8% SST, so 4.86% |
A Lazada voucher does not cut either base, but your own voucher cuts both. SiteGiant's August 2024 example puts a RM10 Lazada voucher on a RM100 item at "3.5% x (MYR100 + shipping fee paid by customer)", while a RM10 seller voucher gives "3.5% x (MYR90 + shipping fee paid by customer)".
What are the Lazada commission rates from 14 August 2026?
Lazada's Marketplace commission now runs from 15% to 25.5% before SST in four of its five clusters, and from 0% to 22.5% in FMCG (everyday consumer goods). LazMall, Lazada's brand-store tier, runs higher in most clusters, at up to 27%. Your own rate depends on your sub-category.
| Cluster | Marketplace before | Marketplace now | LazMall before | LazMall now |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| General Merchandise | 15.5% to 19% | 18.5% to 22% | 20% to 24% | 23% to 27% |
| FMCG | 0% to 19.5% | 0% to 22.5% | 11% to 24% | 11% to 27% |
| Fashion | 16% to 17% | 18.5% to 20% | 18.5% to 22% | 20% to 25% |
| Electronics | 12.5% to 18.5% | 15% to 21.5% | 16% to 22% | 18% to 25% |
| Digital Goods | 22.5% | 25.5% | 2.5% to 6% | 2.5% to 6% |
Rates before 8% SST, typed from Lazada's Marketplace and LazMall tables.
On 2 November 2026 Lazada's own pages gave us the titles and an "Updated at 2026-09-11" stamp but no rate text, so we read the table images as Zetpy and BigSeller carry them. That stamp is later than their August copies, so confirm your rate in Seller Center.
Lazada has revised commission four times in about ten months: 1 November 2025, 1 February 2026, 21 May 2026 (our only source is Stan Chew, who manages Lazada stores) and 14 August 2026. Chew, in Ecommerce Owner's Manual: "vouchers and free shipping you used to fund separately now live inside the rate, so your old net-margin math is stale."
Is the Lazada payment fee 3.5% or 2%?
The best-supported figure for the Lazada payment fee in Malaysia is 3.5% before SST, or 3.78% with it, but we could not confirm it on a current Lazada page. SiteGiant reported the move from 2% to 3.5% in August 2024, and Zetpy's August 2026 note says the fee was left unchanged.
| Source | What it says | Date on the page |
|---|---|---|
| SiteGiant | "from 2% to 3.5% (excluding 8% SST)" | 7 August 2024 |
| Cube Asia | 3.50% for Malaysia, tax treatment not stated | 1 August 2026 |
| ZenWeb | RM2.16 on a modelled RM100 order | Undated, titled 2026 |
| SellerFee | "We have not verified a single published payment-fee percentage" | Rates verified 26 October 2026 |
A rate of 2% plus SST would be RM2.16 on RM100, RM1.62 less than RM3.78 per order. So ZenWeb's number fits the rate SiteGiant says was replaced. If your statement shows 2.16%, every row in the next table except PayLater improves by RM1.62.
How much do you keep from a RM100 sale on Lazada?
A Marketplace seller in General Merchandise, Fashion or Electronics keeps roughly RM72 to RM80 of a RM100 sale after commission and the payment fee. A LazMall seller at the top of General Merchandise keeps RM67.06. These sums exclude advertising, product cost, packing and any shipping you pay yourself.
| Seller, RM100 item, no discount | Commission with SST | Payment fee with SST | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Marketplace seller, first 120 days | RM0 | RM3.78 | RM96.22 |
| Marketplace Electronics, at the 15% floor | RM16.20 | RM3.78 | RM80.02 |
| Marketplace General Merchandise, at the 18.5% floor | RM19.98 | RM3.78 | RM76.24 |
| Marketplace General Merchandise, at the 22% top | RM23.76 | RM3.78 | RM72.46 |
| Same 22% item, buyer pays with PayLater | RM23.76 | RM4.86 | RM71.38 |
| LazMall General Merchandise, at the 27% top | RM29.16 | RM3.78 | RM67.06 |
Our arithmetic on the tables above, with no shipping paid by the buyer, and the PayLater fee replacing the normal payment fee on that order, as we read BigSeller. We found no current Malaysian rate for delivery after the all-in rate, so check the shipping lines in your income statement.
ZenWeb models a lighter RM15.12 of fees per RM100, but its RM12.96 commission line works out to 12% before SST, which sits below the Marketplace floor in every cluster except FMCG. When we asked Gemini on 2 November 2026, it cited no page on lazada.com.my and worked its RM100 example at a 10% commission, landing on RM85.42, though it allowed for less in higher-commission categories.
When do new Lazada sellers start paying commission?
New Marketplace sellers on Lazada Malaysia pay no commission for their first 120 days, and commission starts from day 121, according to Zetpy's August 2026 summary of Lazada's notice. BigSeller reports the same 120 days. The payment fee applies from the start.
OneCart quotes 90 days instead, from a Lazada help article: charges begin after "more than 90 days (i.e. day 91 on Lazada)", but that guide works through a Singapore order. A price set during the waiver has to survive commission switching on at day 121.
What comes back if an order is returned?
Commission comes back on a Lazada return, but the PayLater fee does not. Zetpy reports that "If an order is returned, Lazada states that the commission will be refunded". BigSeller reports that "PayLater fees are not reimbursed if the order is returned", and adds that enabled sellers cannot switch PayLater off.
We did not find a current Malaysian source on whether the normal payment fee comes back, or on what a return costs you in shipping, so check both on a returned order in your income statement.
Is Lazada cheaper than Shopee in Malaysia?
Not on these figures: a RM100 sale leaves about RM72 to RM80 on Lazada against RM77.77 to RM89.28 on Shopee, before Shopee's optional programmes. Lazada folds vouchers and free shipping into one rate, while Shopee bills much of that separately. ZenWeb's advice holds: compare "total ringgit deducted from an identical order, tax included."
The Shopee range comes from our Shopee guide, for an established seller at 5.75% to 16.41% commission with RM5 of buyer-paid shipping, which our Lazada table leaves out. Those rates are stamped before Shopee's own August change, so treat the gap as a starting point. ZenWeb's lighter Lazada model, above, rests on that 12% commission.
Compare TikTok Shop's fees too, and what your own online store costs to run.
How do you check your own Lazada fees?
Check your own Lazada fees in two places, because no public page gives one seller's real rate. The commission rate for your category sits in Seller Settings, and what you were actually charged sits in your income statement. If the two disagree, take the order number to Lazada Partner Support Center.
- Open Lazada Seller Center > Seller Settings > Commission and find your sub-category's rate.
- Open Seller Center > Finance > My Income > Income Statement and pick a few delivered orders.
- Divide each payment fee by the item price after your vouchers plus buyer-paid shipping. That settles 3.78% or 2.16% for your shop.
- Pull one PayLater order and one returned order, and see what came back.

Frequently asked questions
How much commission does Lazada charge in Malaysia?
From 14 August 2026 Lazada's Marketplace commission is 18.5% to 22% in General Merchandise, 18.5% to 20% in Fashion, 15% to 21.5% in Electronics, 0% to 22.5% in FMCG and 25.5% in Digital Goods, all before 8% SST. LazMall runs up to 27%. Your exact rate is under Seller Settings, Commission.
Is SST charged on Lazada seller fees?
Yes. Lazada's commission tables are labelled subject to 8% SST, and SiteGiant reports the payment fee carries it too. The tax is charged on the fee, not on your product. So 20% commission on a RM100 item comes to RM20 plus RM1.60, which is RM21.60 deducted.
Does Lazada refund commission on a returned order?
Yes. Zetpy reports that Lazada states commission will be refunded when an order is returned, and on a partial return the refund is based on the returned item. PayLater fees are different: BigSeller reports they are not reimbursed when a PayLater order is returned.
How long is the Lazada commission-free period for new sellers in Malaysia?
New Marketplace sellers on Lazada Malaysia pay no commission for their first 120 days, and commission starts from day 121, according to Zetpy and BigSeller. The payment fee still applies during that period, so a new seller's cost on a RM100 item is RM3.78 rather than nothing.
